Great wooden puzzle!

This is a great wooden puzzle for my students. I teach mentally handicapped adults and some of them are so low functioning that working on puzzles are just a few of the things they can do well.
Great product.

Daughter with Autism loves this product. The pieces are very sturdy and large enough for her to use. Highly recommend this product to parents with children on the Spectrum.
Hidden flaws

This looks cool up front, but some of the letters are cut out asymmetrically so they only go in the puzzle one way - very frustrating for a 3-1/2 old. Examples: H, N, S, X, Z. At this level these should be mirror images and fit in if flipped upside down. Kids learning at this time cannot make out the subtle differences these current letters have that are no sweat to the rest of us grownups. Start simple, then get tricky as the kids level of recognition increases.
NOT THE BEST BUY OUT THERE...

I purchased this puzzle for my 4 year old and my 2 year old. The puzzle is great if you don't mind searching for the pieces all the time as they 'set on top' of the puzzle and don't really sit down in thier places. Only about 1/3 of the piece actually fits down into the space. It is very easy to knock off pieces already in their place when working the puzzle. Also, some of the letters have to be turned around to fit properly. For example the letter O, I, H, S, X, and Z. IN ADDITION TO ALL OF THE ABOVE, some of the pitures could have been better thought out. W has a Wagon behind it but it also has a Horse. It is something I would send back if it wasn't so much trouble.

This is another great wooden puzzle from Melissa and Doug. It's an excellent way to begin your children on letters and to teach them to appreciate the quality of real materials.
All of the letters lift up to reveal a picture of an object that starts with that letter. It's essentially the same concept as early alphabet books, but you can make it into a game (pick a letter out of a bag and you must say an object that starts with that letter before placing it in the puzzle) and encourage its use in solo play. Wonderful!
